2024 Communicator of the Year
Patricia McGeever, a professional communicator for over 30 years, has been named the Salesian Guild 2024 Communicator of the Year.
She began her career as a writer and assignment editor at Cincinnati’s WKRC-TV, then left Cincinnati to work in other markets. Ten years ago, she returned to WKRC-TV, where she produces the 5:30 news.
One of her nominators noted that “she has sought out and included in her newscasts faith-based and feel-good stories which offset the negative stories that seem to dominate the news.” One example of such stories was the 2018 segment which she researched and produced, “Finding Your Calling: Religious Orders Use Social Media to Attract Millennial Candidates.”
In 2022 she researched, wrote and produced an hour-long special for WKRC-TV titled, “Sister Blandina Segale: A Cincinnati Saint,” which won a Gabriel Award from the Catholic Media Association, an Emmy Award from the Ohio Valley Chapter, and a first-place documentary award from the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists.
For several years she has served on the Marketing Committee for Bethany House Services, producing an award-winning video, “One Step Closer to Home.” She is also active in St. Martin of Tours Parish in Cheviot, where she has served on the Festival and Marketing Committees, and produced the parish’s Centennial Celebration video.
